My name is Christian Kim Eschen and I am the founder of Healthy AI. Currently, I am the only working working consultant in Healthy AI.

I have a background as a biomedical engineer with specialization in machine learning and medical image analysis. It is my passion to combine machine learning and deep learning to develop data driven diagnostic tools and artificial intelligence for medical use.

I work as a PhD fellow at the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Protein Research at the University of Copenhagen, and I carry out research in applying deep learning to coronary angiography images in patients with ischemic heart disease. My research concerns how we can use deep learning to understand the underlying disease mechanisms using electronic health records. It is my dream to use deep learning to discover novel patterns in medicine and improve understanding of disease mechanisms.

Since deep learning models are often considered as black boxes, I also work on method development in explainability of deep learning models.

Previously, I have worked as a Deep Learning Research Specialist at Visiopharm, where my primary task was to develop deep learning applications for digital pathology. For instance, I implemented robust and general cell nuclei segmentation using deep learning for production. Furthermore, I was involved and taking lead in various research projects, including abnormality detection in kidney tissue and detection of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease in liver tissue using deep learning.
